About Prof. Tariq Mansoor
Prof. Tariq Mansoor is a distinguished academic leader, surgeon, and public figure with over four decades of experience in education, healthcare, research, and public service. He currently serves as the National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Member of the Legislative Council, Uttar Pradesh (nominated by the Hon’ble Governor in April 2023).
He is the former Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) (2017–2023), one of India’s most prestigious institutions. Under his visionary leadership, AMU achieved NAAC A+ accreditation, secured Category-II autonomy by UGC, and witnessed remarkable academic expansion and modernization — including the establishment of new colleges, research centers, and advanced courses in fields such as Green Energy, Biomedical Engineering, and Islamic Finance.
A medical academician by profession, Prof. Mansoor previously served as Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College & Hospital, AMU, where he led major advancements in healthcare infrastructure, clinical services, and postgraduate education. His academic career includes over 120 research publications and the supervision of 62 postgraduate theses in surgery and allied fields.
At the national level, he has been a Member of the Padma Awards Committee (2023–2025), Member of the Medical Council of India, and has served on various high-level committees of the Government of India, including those on Online Education, National Credit Framework, and Educational Technology (NCERT). He was also part of India’s delegation to the India–Indonesia Interfaith Dialogue (2018) and the R20 Religion Forum under G20 (Bali, 2022).
Prof. Mansoor’s contributions extend beyond academia — he has written thought-provoking opinion pieces in leading national and international publications such as The Indian Express, The Hindu, ThePrint, Hindustan Times, Navbharat Times, and Khaleej Times (UAE), addressing themes of education, reform, inclusivity, and national integration.
A recipient of multiple honors, including two Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Eminent Senior Surgical Teacher Award (2013), Prof. Mansoor remains deeply committed to advancing education, healthcare, and inclusive development in India.
Beyond his professional achievements, he is an avid tennis player and an enthusiastic reader of history, international affairs, and politics.
